Description:
In our online poetry workshop, we will embrace three principles of being human in our thoughts, speech, and actions. As we come to write poetry and understand metaphor, our poems will open the door to justice that is based on mutual consent and the cry of someone suffering injustice.
We coach, guide, direct, and inspire each other as we study contemporary poems that will act as catalysts toward our own writing. Selected themes include love, community, homelessness, vulnerability, oppression, ecology and kindness between strangers. Poets that we will study are Sherwin Bitsui, Harriet Mullen, Linda Hogan, Aracelis Girmey, Luis Javier Rodriquez, and Ching-In Chen.
