Description:
The Pueblo Archaeological and Historical Society invites the public to this FREE presentation of “Sacagawea’s Capture and the History of the Early West” at 7:00 PM Thursday, May 5 in the Hoag Theatre of Pueblo Community College, on the corner of Orman and Arthur avenues in Pueblo.
May is Archaeology and Historic Preservation month and in honor of this occasion historian Elizabeth Fenn uses the circumstances of Sacagawea’s capture to illuminate a deeper history of the northern plains and Rockies. Fenn discusses indigenous warfare, hunting techniques, environmental conditions, horse-borne interactions, and plains power dynamics as they pertained to a one-month period of Sacagawea’s life.
