When you want to know something about someone or some business, how do you start your research? In 2021, we could either start by “Googling” a name and peruse a variety of search results. But if you were trying to research someone or some place before the advent of the internet and digital research technology, what resources would you then consult?
Dr. Tamar McKee, manager of the Stephen H. Hart Research Center, will present on Zoom the history of city directories as well as walk through various activities and exercises that will demonstrate how directories – particularly in Colorado – can yield helpful clues and context to urban areas, their residents and businesses during specific historic eras.
